Consortium of Health Care Providers Plans Primary Care Clinic in Spokane's University District

A consortium of Spokane’s health care providers is planning a $15 million, 40,000-square-foot primary-care clinic in the city’s University District to serve as a training ground for new physicians and other emerging medical professionals. Residents will begin training this year. The consortium includes Washington State University, Providence Health Care and the Empire Health Foundation. The consortium has secured $900,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration for six new medical residencies in Spokane. American Snowmobiler Magazine recently featured an Inland Northwest company, Frozen MOTO. Founded in 2010, Frozen MOTO is owned and operated by Dan Shanahan in Lewiston, Idaho. The company manufactures and sells conversion kits to turn your dirt bike into a snow bike. Eight Washington Counties Win Manufacturing Community Designation

Eight Washington counties - including Spokane - were awarded the "Manufacturing Community" designation as part of the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP) initiative put on by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

 The eight Washington counties make up one of a group of 12 winners that will be given preference for federal grants from a number of federal agencies, including the departments of Transportation, Labor, Defense, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Agriculture and the Small Business Administration, among others. Industry Track Experts to Share Knowledge at Be The Entrepreneur Bootcamp


Aspiring entrepreneurs across three specific industry tracks will have the opportunity to learn from experts and small business leaders at the Palouse Knowledge Corridor’s Be the Entrepreneur Bootcamp, a five-day experience June 21-25 in Moscow, Idaho, and Pullman, Washington.

The bootcamp will utilize experts in value-added agriculture, animal health, and technology and innovation from Washington State University and the University of Idaho, as well as surrounding areas. The three topics have been selected based on experts in the area and demand in the Pacific Northwest.

Teck American Reopening Pend Oreille Mine



With zinc prices rising, Teck American Inc. plans to reopen the Pend Oreille Mine in northeast Washington by the end of the year, as reported by the Spokesman-Review. About 80 people are already working at the underground mine near Metaline Falls, and the workforce should increase to about 240 by December. The company’s intent is to have the mine back to full production by the fourth quarter. Read more in the Spokesman-Review article.
